Who we are

Information we collect

• Account information: your email address and login details.
• Service data: the Scouts you run, their settings and results, and the prospects you save.
• Technical information: basic request and error logs needed to run and secure the service.
• Public business information: details found on public web pages about the businesses your searches return.

How we use it

We use your information to provide your account, run your searches, show and save results, handle billing and answer support requests. We also record first-party usage events to see which parts of the product are used. Usage events are linked to your account ID and never contain names, email addresses or search text.

Lawful bases

We process account and service data to perform our contract with you. We process technical data and public business information on the basis of our legitimate interests in running a secure research tool. Billing records are kept to meet legal obligations.

Service providers

• Supabase: authentication and database.
• Vercel: application hosting.
• Anthropic: AI-assisted research of public web pages and drafting of outreach text.
• Stripe: payments and billing.

They process data on our instructions and only to provide their part of the service.

International transfers

Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

Retention

We keep account and service data while your account is open and delete it within a reasonable period after you close it. Payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and access to your Scouts and saved prospects is restricted to your account. No system is perfectly secure, so tell us straight away if you think your account has been compromised.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies, such as the one that keeps you signed in. Your light or dark theme choice is stored in your own browser and never sent to us. Usage events are first-party and set no cookies. Usage events are linked to your account ID and never contain names, email addresses or search text. Because we set no cookies beyond the essential ones, no consent banner is shown.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, and object to or restrict how we use it. Email us to make a request. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Public business information and objections

Search results are built from information businesses publish on the public web, and a signal is a reason to research a business, not a judgement about it. If you are a business owner or sole trader and object to your details appearing in results, email us. We will review the objection and tell you what we have done about it.

Children

Signal Scout is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and we will tell account holders about significant changes.
